Equipment - Electric bed, mattress, pillows, wheelchair, bedside commode were delivered and assembled on Saturday afternoon. Got a call before 8 am from Interventional Radiology’s lead physician. He was bright, confident as he said they had a new plan utilizing some additional imaging to better locate vessels and they planned to get Gary in about 10 am today. I felt both optimistic and skeptical. the phone rang again. It was a nurse who needed me on site as soon as possible to sign more documents as they prepared to Gary’s discharge. As soon as I arrived, a team was there to take Gary to IR for the procedure. Gary was confused and medicated.
They wheeled in 1.5 to 2 hours announcing success placing both tubes. This was great news- the possibility of pain relief and minimizing blood loss. He needed to stay overnight for observation before discharge.
This is text I sent to family Dec 1.
I hope you and yours are safe at home. St Francis to home 1.25 hours. (about 6 miles). They were successful getting nephrostomy tubes placed. Post op recovery was three hours. Given the weather, I headed home. I called Gary’s phone and he didn’t answer yet. I expect Gary will be released home tomorrow. I have the equipment. Bed is made. Next chapter to begin. Love. Michele

Bless you and Gary. Thank you for sharing Michelle. Too often as a culture we ignore this stage of life. As an older woman myself, I don’t want to ignore this reality.
